We will be writing a summary of our accomplishments, ideas and plans for creating biodiesel to submit to the Connecticut Science Journal. The Journal is created by fossworks, to the left is link to their website. |
We were invited to a Biofuels Symposium at UCONN on January 11, 2007. To the left is a link to more information. Students interested should ask Mr. Mendelssohn for a permission slip. **If you plan on attending you need to return the parental permission slip to Mr. Mendelssohn before the holiday break. |

At the meeting on 1/6/2007, it was announced that Ben was not able to purchase a diesel engine for the airplane, but we will be refunded completely and he will give us the plane at the end of the year so we could purchase a diesel engine in the future. Decision: At the meeting on 11/11/06 the group decided to support the plane project. More detailed explainations of the idea, costs and concerns can be found on the discussion forum here. Ben found that they could buy the plane already built and it would end up costing less. The new price would be about $590. Update: Last week on 11/2/06 Ben White met with Mr. Thiery to propose his plan for having the Biodiesel group sponsor his plane project. Mr. Thiery decided that he would allow BDP to buy only the engine for Ben and his partner Chris Grimm. This would lower the cost from about $900 to about $640. At the meeting on 10/28/06 Ben White made a proposal for us to use approximately $900 from our budget to purchase a remote control airplane that will run on biodiesel fuel that we produce. To the left is a link to the brochure Ben created. We need to decide whether or not we are willing to sponsor Ben's plane. To see what everyone's view is a poll has been posted on the discussion forum, so you can vote on the issue here. |
